Moulton ISD receives quote for new safety film
By Clayton Kelley
Moulton ISD has received a quote for the installation of new safety film for the classroom and outdoor windows at the Jan. 17 meeting.
“Adding the film to our windows will not only be in compliance (to safety standards) but may detour someone from seeking access to our buildings,” Superintendent Renee Fairchild said.
The district had three quotes to choose from. One of the quotes was in the amount of $74,000, the second $56,000 and the other one was for $49,184. Moulton ISD has opted to go with the latter quote which is from Sensational Solutions. Sensational Solutions have installed products to over 5,500 residential homes, commercial facilities, government buildings, and various school districts according to their website.
The purchase for this film will come from the district’s safety budget. The film will be installed on both sides of the windows where appropriate.
Moulton ISD also approved the order of the May election. Those up for re-election are Place 6 David Beyer, Place 7 Justin Anderle, and Place 4 Chuck Greive.
The board members were also recognized with a proclamation by Mayor Mark Zimmerman for national school board recognition month.
Student enrollment numbers were listed at 296 students however the district appears to be getting additional students as well on a weekly basis.
Future events at Moulton ISD were discussed starting with the UIL and rodeo art awards on Feb. 8.
“Our UIL event was hosted in November, but we always do our awards with rodeo art,” Elementary Principal Victoria Ortiz said. “The rodeo art projects will be displayed in the cafeteria. Basically, with the rodeo art project, the kiddos do (rodeo) art projects, and they get selected (for the contest). The selections get taken to the Houston Rodeo and winners from there are announced. We often have a lot of kids who are placed.”
On Jan. 24, the high school will host a FAFSA conference for seniors who have questions about college financial aid.
