Moulton ISD launches district mobile app
By Clayton Kelley
Parents and students at Moulton ISD can now navigate what is going on at the school with few swipes thanks to the launch of their new mobile app.
“The way that you get the app is if you go to your app store and type in Moulton ISD and then download the app,” school counselor Angela Zumwalt said. “The app gives you the latest newsfeed at Moulton ISD. It also gives you events that are going on toward the bottom. It’ll have documents and a list of our staff that are on there.”
The application also has alerts that it sends through notifications, so folks won’t miss out on what’s going on at Moulton ISD.
“There’s also a daily menu of what we’re serving at school,” Zumwalt said. “This includes breakfast and lunch.”
The district has had this application throughout this year. They went with a new website called “Apptegy” and sent out reminders to parents and students to get the app in January so they can stay up to date on the comings and goings around the district.
“The response from parents and students has been great,” Zumwalt said. “I know that they’re looking at it because parents have been asking me things about the app."
The app also sends notifications for when the school district may be out because of bad weather or other emergencies.
“We can send notifications from our website and the app will give a text or a voicemail to every parent in our district,” Zumwalt said. “If there are alerts that school has been cancelled or we’re letting out early or starting late, parents would be the first to know.”
Moulton ISD opted to go with this app because their website was outdated and needed some updates.
“This particular company, ‘Apptegy’, had the app as well as the website and they sync together,” Zumwalt said. “They also sync to Facebook, so if I post something on the website, it automatically goes to the app and it automatically goes to Facebook.”
Moulton ISD encourages everyone to download the app today so parents and students can get alerts to the latest news and updates on the district.
