Brahmas defeat Shiner in tournament finale Saturday
The Hallettsville Brahmas defeated Shiner, 2-1, in the final game of the Jimmy Appelt Tournament Saturday evening.
As were the runs, hits were at a premium with the Brahmas having four hits and the Comanches four.
Hudson Chenard started on the hill for the Brahmas and gave up the lone Shiner run, three hits, walked two and struck out four in four innings of work.
Andrew George threw two hitless innings and walked two. Jorian Wilson got the save and ceded one hit.

Both of Hallettsville runs were scored on wild pitches.
Brock Bludau singled to lead off the fifth inning, moved to second on Preston Wagner’s ground out prior scoring after two wild pitches.
The go-ahead run came across in the sixth inning.
Hudson Chenard was hit by a pitch with one out. Austin Henrichs drew a walk prior to Chenard scoring on an errant pitch.
Bludau and Tanner Wagner were both twofor-three and accounted for the Brahma hits.
The Brahmas stranded seven baserunners and Shiner six.
Port Lavaca Calhoun was the tournament champion and went undefeated.
The Brahmas improved to 9-3 on the season.
Note: Jorian Wilson hit his fourth, fifth and sixth home runs of the season in the tournament and went five-for-seven.

Tanner Wagner was the winning pitcher in the rout of the Buffaloes and went four innings, giving up three hits while striking out six.
Gavyn Chapa worked the final frame and gave up a hit and fanned two.
Jorian Wilson hit two home runs and drove in five runs. Tanner Wagner was two-for-three, Luke Henneke had two hits with a double and two RBI and Brock Bludau singled and stole a base.
Brahmas 10, Cuero 0 (5)
After four scoreless innings, Hallettsville scored all of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game early.
Preston Wagner drove in two runs with a single and Josh Griffin, Tanner Wagner, Monte Thigpen collected RBI base hits.
Brock Bludau was three-for-three with a double and two runs scored. Hudson Chenard added a double.
Konnor Kopecky pitched all five innings and surrendered just four hits with three strikeouts.
The Brahmas lost to Geronimo Navarro, 4-3, in the first game Thursday and wasted a great pitching effort by Tanner Cliffe, who was betrayed by his defense.
All four Panther runs were unearned. Cliffe worked 6.2 innings and surrendered five hits, walked three and recorded two strikeouts.
The Brahmas had a 3-2 lead entering the top of the seventh before the roof caved in.
Hallettsville was one out from victory, but a throwing error led to two runs with Colt Brown driving in both.
Navarro took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on two hits, a hit batter, another key error and a run-scoring single by Caleb Wood.
The Brahmas replied in the bottom of the first with two runs with Tanner Wagner getting a run home with an infield out and Monte Thigpen’s single.
Jorian Wilson hit a laser to left field for his fourth home run of the season for a 3-2 Brahma lead.
Hallettsville had just one hit after the third inning, a double by Wilson.
The Brahmas stranded seven baserunners, five in scoring position.
Wilson had two hits and Brock Bludau one.
