Brahmas right the ship in wins over Bulldogs, Sharks
The Hallettsville Brahmas had revenge on their minds when they took the field against Yoakum here Friday night in a District 25-AAA contest.
The Brahmas atoned for the 4-2 loss to the Bulldogs in Yoakum March 12 with a 10-0 victory.
Hudson Chenard (6- 1) stifled Bulldog bats with a one-hitter in the five-inning game. The sophomore right hander fanned five and walked two. He retired nine of the final 10 batters he faced and threw just 60 pitches.
The Brahmas had only five hits but drew nine walks and two batters were hit by pitches.
The Brahmas scored three runs in the first inning.
Brock Bludau led off with a single, stole second and scored on a double by Tanner Wagner. Monte Thigpen followed with another double to score Wagner. Thigpen came across on a bases loaded walk to Josh Griffin.
Carter Blaha was safe on an error to start the third inning and scored on a base hit by Chenard. With two outs, a huge error scored two runs and the Brahmas led 5-0.
The Brahmas scored a run in the fourth inning on an infield out by Blaha.
Four runs in the fifth inning ended the game. The Brahmas did not have a hit in the frame. Chenard’s two-out walk with the bases loaded made the final score 10-0.
The loss severely dented Yoakum’s playoff hopes and dropped them to 3-6 in district.
BRAHMAS 23, PALACIOS 6 (6)
Jorian Wilson broke the single season school record with his 10th home run as the Brahmas scored 10 runs in the fourth inning and eight in the sixth to take a 23-6 victory in Palacios Tuesday, April 2.
The teams were tied at four apiece until the 10- run fourth inning with the highlight a three-run homer by Wilson.
Monte Thigpen hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Tanner Wagner scored Andrew George with an infield out.
Wilson led off the second inning with a base on balls and came across on a fielder’s choice by Hudson Chenard.
The Brahmas banged out 14 hits. Wilson was three-for-three with five RBI and George threefor-five with a double. Brock Bludau had two hits including a triple and three runs scored. Josh Griffin tripled and collected four runs batted in. Jake Ressler tripled with two RBI. Preston Wagner and Tanner Cliffe singled.
