Brahmas nip Edna, defeat Rice

The Hallettsville Brahmas began a threegame home stand with a 9-4 victory over Rice Consolidated in a District 25-AAA game here Friday night.

Starter and winner Hudson Chenard (7-1) worked five innings and gave up six hits, two runs (one unearned) four walks and struck out six.

Jorian Wilson threw the final two innings and ceded one hit, an unearned run and struck out three.

The score was tied 3-3 before the Brahmas distanced themselves with a five-run fifth inning.

Jorian Wilson led off with a walk and Tanner Wagner grounded a single to center. After a strike out, Wilson scored on a sac fly by Chenard. Luke Henneke came through with a two-out single to score Tanner Wagner and Preston Wagner’s infield hit got Josh Griffin home after Griffin had walked. Brock Bludau kept the inning going with a triple down the right field line for the final two runs of the inning.

The Brahmas (16-6, 8-3) had a three-run rally in the second inning.

Carter Blaha, Chenard and Griffin led off with base hits. A two-out error led to two runs.

Preston Wagner ended up two-for three with a run scored and a RBI. Noah Gonzales had two of Rice’s seven hits.

BRAHMAS 2, EDNA 0

Konnor Kopecky and Brock Bludau combined to shut out Cowboys Tuesday, April 9 in Edna.

Kopecky went five innings and gave up the only Cowboy hit, walked one and struck out five and Bludau got the save.

Kopecky gave up two hits, struck out five and walked one.

Bludau struck out three and walked one in his two innings on the hill.

Hallettsville scored its runs in the third inning. Kopecky was safe on an error and courtesy runner Tanner Cliffe advanced to third on a base hit by Bludau. Cliffe scored on a passed ball and Bludau on a wild pitch.

The Brahmas stranded nine baserunners.
