Brahmas send relay to state meet
SEGUIN –The Hallettsville Brahmas’ best wasn’t good enough at the Region IV-3A meet Friday and Saturday.
The 4x200 relay finished second in 1:28.48 to qualify for state. The group was made up of Damarion Austin, Layne Gerke, Caden Willis and Rashaun Sidney.
The Brahmas had three third place finishers.
Caden Willis set a school record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 38.81 seconds. The old record was held by DJ Taylor of 39.60 seconds in 2018.
Sidney was third in both the triple jump, long jump and 200-meter dash. He went an even 45 feet in the triple jump and 20 feet, 11.75 inches in the long jump. Sidney qualified for state last year in the triple jump with a best of 44 feet, one-half inch effort.
In the 200, Sidney ran a 22.41.
The 4x100 relay was third in 42.75 seconds. The foursome was composed of Austin, Gerke, Willis and Sidney
The 4x400 relay was fifth with David Johnson, Colt Edmonds, Landry Brown and Austin getting the baton around the track in 3:29.54 to break the school record of 3:30.69 set in 2017.
A i d e n D ro z d wa s fifth in the discus with a toss of150 feet and sixth in the shot put with a best of 46 feet, 6.5 inches, a PR.
