Brahmas double dip Ro-Hawks

MARION – The Universal City Randolph RoHawks made a quick exit from the playoffs after being swept by the Hallettsville Brahmas by identical scores of 13-0 (both five inning games) at Bulldog Stadium Friday and Saturday

The Brahmas (20-6-1) had 25 hits in the two games and got fine pitching from Hudson Chenard and Konnor Kopecky in stretching their win streak to nine games.

GAME ONE:

Hudson Chenard held Randolph to three hits in the 13-0 whitewashing Friday night.

Chenard (9-1) struck out six, hit a batter and did not allow a walk.

Chenard gave up two of the hits in the first inning before getting out of the jam with two strikeouts.

The Brahmas scored early and often with four runs in the bottom of the first.

Andrew George singled with one out and scored on a base hit by Jorian Wilson. After a Monte Thigpen single, Tanner Wagner hit a triple in the gap to left center to plate George prior to scoring on an infield out by Carter Blaha

Three runs came in during the third inning on the strength of Griffin’s home run over the right field fence for a 7-0 lead.

The fourth inning saw six more runs score on RBI hits by Wilson, Thigpen, Griffin, George and Blaha. Preston Wagner had a double and Wilson tripled.

NOTE: Tanner Wagner was four-for-six with two RBI in the two games.

Starting pitcher Konnor Kopecky went three innings with Brock Bludau throwing the final two frames in the victory Saturday afternoon.

Kopecky got through a mine field unscathed when he free-passed the bases loaded with one out in the second inning before striking out the next two batters.

Kopecky ceded two hits, walked three and struck out four.

Bludau retired all six batters he faced, five by strikeouts.

The Brahmas had 11 hits in this game.

Monte Thigpen knocked in the first run with a single in the initial inning.

Hallettsville scored two runs in the second inning for a 2-0 lead. Tanner Wagner and Carter Blaha singled with Wagner scoring on a sacrifice fly by Josh Griffin and Blaha on another sac fly by Brock Bludau.

Blaha chased home a run in the third inning with a single to up the score to 4-0.

It was 9-0 after a five run fourth inning. The big blow was a two-run single by Thigpen.

Four more runs scored in the fifth inning to make the final 13-0.
