Six people indicted in late November

Six people were handed felony indictments after the grand jury met late last month for its monthly review of felony criminal cases with the local prosecutor’s office.

Of those six cases, two were returned as sealed indictments, which typically indicates that law enforcement has not yet served arrest warrants in those cases.

It is important to note that while everyone named here was indicted, that does not necessarily mean that they committed the offense listed. Rather, it shows that prosecutors have met the state’s minimum evidentiary standard in bringing a case against someone.

The courts will ultimately decide the guilt or innocence of the accused, which they remain until the day the courts render that decision.

The indictment is the instrument by which that legal process begins.

Those indicted on Nov. 24 include:

• Ryan Lee Knesek, for unlawful firearm possession by a felon.

• Damon Bryant Moncrief, for unlawful firearm possession by a felon.

• Angel Merrida Ortiz, for continuous sexual abuse of a child under age 14.

• Michelle Denise Paskos, for controlled substance possession.
