Agencies assist in HPD arrest

The Hallettsville Police Department, with the assistance from other law enforcement agencies, conducted an arrest on Sunday, shortly after noon.

According to a Hallettsville PD press release, the arresting incident took place at 12:02 p.m.

While patrolling in the 1500 block of N. Texana St., a HPD officer observed a wanted subject in a vehicle.

A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle fled southbound on N . Texana St. evading the officer.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop in or about the 700 block of N. Texana St., but then the vehicle drove in reverse striking the patrol unit before fleeing from the scene.

An off duty officer had witnessed the incident and kept his eyes on the suspect’s vehicle and followed it to a residence located in the 400 block of E. Fifth St.

With the assistance of multiple agencies, the subject was taken into custody without incident.

The subject was transported to the Lavaca County Jail, where he was booked on his outstanding warrants as well as evading arrest/detention and with a vehicle assault on a peace officer.

The name of the subject was not released in the press release.
