Brahmas sweep KC; Marion on deck
Pitching has been the Hallettsville Brahmas’ calling card all season.
Coach Chad Gohlke got outstanding pitching from three hurlers to sweep Karnes City 2-1 and 11-0.
The Brahmas, 25-2, will meet Marion in a bestof-three series starting Thursday with the first game here at 7 p.m. before going to Marion Friday and play at 5, and if necessary, a third game will follow.
Combined no-hitter
Jorian Wilson and Konnor Kopecky combined to throw a no-hitter in the 2-1 victory in Karnes City Thursday night.
Wilson was the starter and winner. He went five innings, but had control issues in the first inning when he threw 28 pitches.
Wilson struck out nine, walked three. The lone KC run was unearned.
Kopecky worked the final two innings and retired all six batters he faced two via strikeouts.
Badger pitcher Troy Currie held the Brahmas to just four hits.
Brock Bludau led off the game with a home run on the second pitch he saw.
The Badgers scored in the bottom of the first inning when a fly ball was misplayed for an error.
The Brahmas did not get a hit until the fourth inning. Andrew George singled to start the frame and Jorian Wilson walked, but both were left stranded.
Hallettsville scored the go-ahead run in the sixth with two outs and no one on. Preston Wagner singled to left field, went to second on an errant pick-off attempt and scored on a single to left by Bludau for the go-ahead run.

Run rule
In a game started on Friday night and was finished Saturday afternoon, the Brahmas run-ruled the Badgers, 11-0.
A severe thunderstorm Friday night delayed the game until Saturday.
Hudson Chenard (11-0) gave up one hit and struck out eight in the five-inning game.
The Brahma scored three runs in the third inning on just one hit, four walks. Austin Henrichs had the only hit. Tanner Wagner, Carter Blaha and Weston Loudon walked with the bases loaded.
A seven-run fourth inning was the key when the Brahmas sent nine batters to the plate.
Henrichs led off with a single. Carter Blaha hit a two-run single, Jorian Wilson a RBI single.
