Power outage leaves Yoakum community without power for hours
City of Yoakum electric crews promptly tracked down the cause of the power outage that occurred on the afternoon of April 30. Investigations found an unfortunate dove was the cause of the major outage that affected more than half of the city of Yoakum residents and Sweet Home. Lower Colorado River Authority personnel responded quickly to the damaged insulator that took down one of the main transformers inside the substation which supplies Yoakum with power.
While hard to believe the tiny creatures can create such havoc, occurrences happen often.
With the talented and dedicated employees working on the extremely dangerous equipment, the downtime, is minimal.
Unfortunately, for the animals and birds creating the issues, it is a permanent mistake.
