Brahmas keep rolling with sweep of Marion
The Hallettsville Brahmas easily swept Marion 16-1 and 12-0 to win the Class 3A area championship.
The Brahmas will meet Falfurrias in the regional semifinals. The last meeting between the teams was in 1991. The Jerseys swept Bishop in a best-of-three series.
The Brahmas wrapped up the series Friday at Marion in the 12-0 victory.
Jorian Wilson pitched a five-inning no-hitter, struck out seven and walked one.
The Bulldogs’ biggest threat came in the second inning when a runner reached third base on an error, but Wilson recorded a strikeout and a fly out to prevent any damage.
The Brahmas scored three runs in the first inning after a lead-off single by Brock Bludau. That was followed by a RBI hit, by Carter Blaha, Weston Loudon got in a run with a fielder’s choice and Hudson Chenard walked with the bases loaded.
In the second inning, Bludau walked before scoring on a wild pitch.
Four runs in the fourth inning made it 8-0.
Tanner Wagner led off with a single and Blaha bunted for a base hit. Both were chased home on a triple to right field by Loudon. Chenard was hit by the pitch and scored on a wild pitch. Loudon scored on an error for the final run.
With four runs in the fifth inning, the Brahmas put the game away early.
Four batters were hit by pitches, two of which forced in runs. Preston Wagner knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Andrew George, Tanner Wagner and Blaha had a multi-hit game.
The Brahmas had nine hits. Six batters were hit by pitches and four walked.

Hudson Chenard held the Bulldogs to three hits in the 16-1 victory here Thursday night.
Chenard worked the first four innings struck out two, gave up a run and walked one.
Konnor Kopecky pitched the final inning and gave up a hit and walked one.
The Brahmas started the scoring with two runs in the first inning.
Brock Bludau drew a four-pitch walk prior to Andrew George crushing a 1-2 pitch over the left field fence.
A six-run second inning made it 8-0.
George hit a two-run single, Tanner Wagner walked with the bases loaded, Preston Wagner singled in a run.
George collected his fifth RBI of the game with a single in the fourth inning and Tanner Wagner hit a two-run double.
Three batters were hit by pitches and five walked.
