97th Annual Tom Tom Festival Friday, Saturday
The 97th Annual Yoakum Tom Tom Festival will take place this Friday and Saturday with organizers having lined up an abundance of entertainment taking place in the City Park.
Starting Friday, the entertainment scheduled includes a Kiddie Parade along with a carnival, the start of the BBQ cook-off, a rodeo and live music called “Polka in the Park”
The event continues throughout the day and evening on Saturday with the downtown parade taking place beginning at 10 a.m.
Starting at 7:30 a.m., the Tomato Trail 5K run will take place as well as all other activities taking place in the park where a carnival is being held along with a car show, and a continuance of a rodeo.
There will be plenty of food and drinks available through vendors, food trucks and a biergarten. Also, arts and crafts booths will be set up for those who wish to shop.
The barbecue cook-off will continue on Saturday with a guaranteed $8,500 payout.
Grand and reserve champs and up to the top ten cook-off teams will be recognized in each meat category.
In addition a Kids cook-off will be held on Saturday for 14 and under age competing. Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 cooks. Entries are limited to the first 20 registrants.
Live music will be offered starting at 5:30 p.m. with Shiner’s 2nd Wind Band playing until 8:30 p.m.
Carson Jeffrey will be on stage from 8:30 to 10 p.m. and he will be followed by Roger Creager and Jon Wolfe performing until 11:30 p.m.
Cost for the Tom Tom Festival in the City Park is $20 each day for a wristband, or you can purchase a wristband for the entire festival at $35.
