Jack Janecek

Jack Janecek, 24, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Jack was born July 1, 2000, in Yoakum, to David and Leah (Wagner) Janecek. He was a 2018 graduate of St. Paul High School and a 2022 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Jack taught high school math and was a wonderful mentor to the students at St. Dominic Savio Catholic School in Austin where he received the “Teacher of the Year” award in 2024. He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and an active member of Shiner Knights of Columbus Msgr. Netardus Council #3081 and an Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America Troop 231 of Shiner.
Jack lived his life thoughtfully and in abundance. He loved all games and was particularly lucky playing poker. He was the guy you wanted on your team for dominoes and dominated the table at Bananagrams. He loved fishing and was an excellent cook. A large part of living abundantly is loving abundantly, no one ever wondered if Jack loved them, he freely expressed his love and left no doubt.
He was a kind and generous soul who would do anything to help others in need. Jack’s needs were simple, he was a faithful servant to God, he remained kind and humble at all times, and he was great with children. The common denominator for Jack Janecek was love; surely Jack emulated and truly lived out the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12).
Jack Janecek is survived by his loving family: parents, David and Leah Janecek; sister, Maria Janecek; brothers, Ben Janecek (Laura), Dr. Jed Janecek (Morgan), and Hank Janecek; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rachel Janecek; and his grandparents, Dr. John Dennis and Bertie Wagner, and Gilbert and Benita Janecek.
