HHS commencement Friday; 107 candidates up for graduation

In the event of inclement weather, graduation ceremonies would move to the high school gymnasium

Hallettsville High School will hold its 2026 Commencement Exercises Friday, May 22 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Hallettsville Brahmas Memorial Stadium.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and in the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the HHS Gymnasium. Each graduating student would receive 6 tickets for guests.

In the event of inclement weather, additional information regarding the final graduation location and any related details will be shared through the district’s communication channels prior to Friday, May 22.

One hundred seven seniors are candidates for graduation and will hear from Dr. Jo Ann Bludau followed by the salutatory and valedictory addresses.

The graduation ceremony will be livestreamed over the NFHSNetwork.com.

The Valedictorian of the 2026 HHS graduating class is Jake Ressler, son of Heath and Melanie Ressler.

Through high school, Jake has been heavily involved in FFA from the chapter level all the way to the national level.

He has served as one of 12 Area FFA presidents across the state of Texas and has been very competitive in state level contests.

Jake was named Grand Champion of both the San Antonio and Houston Commercial Steer Shows.

In athletics, Jake was the catcher on the Brahma’s baseball team and was selected on the All-District first team.

Jake was also named the Outstanding Senior Student from Hallettsville High School at this year’s Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

Jake plans to attend Texas A&M University at College Station and major in Agribusiness.

The Salutatorian for the 2026 HHS graduating class is Aubrey Freytag, daughter of Dr. Christopher and Kristin Freytag.

During her time in high school Aubrey achieved a number of accomplishments both academically and through extracurricular involvement.

Aubrey served as an officer in various school organizations including president of the senior class, Hallettsville FFA treasurer. Student Council treasurer, Rotary Interact vice-president, and a member of the Library committee and National Honor Society. She was also very actively involved in varsity tennis, track and field, UIL academics, and FFA competitions earning many awards including Grand Champion Showmanship at the Hallettsville Junior Livestock Show as well as being named a Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Senior nominee.

Aubrey will be attending Texas A&M University at College Station where she will major in Public Health with a minor in Pre-Med.

The HHS Honor Graduate for 2026 is Kaisly Bludau, daughter of Ryan and Kelly Bludau.

Through her time at HHS, Kaisly served as the Rotary Interact president, Student Council vice-president, a member of the FFA, National Honor Society, Library committee, Club Med and FCA.

Kaisly was involved in varsity soccer, tennis, track and field, UIL academics, and FFA competitions, earning many awards and being named outstanding student in numerous classes.

Kaisly will attend Texas A&M University at College Station and pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. She further plans to attend medical school in pursuit of a Doctorate in Dermatology.
