Dick Ned Farmer
Dick Ned Farmer, age 90, passed away on Aug. 1 in Yoakum.
He was born March 11, 1932 in Edinburg to O.P. and Calva High Farmer. He will be greatly missed by his family. Dick received a Bachelor's Degree from Pan American College in Edinburg and, after having taught school for a brief period following graduation, went to work for Conoco, Inc. beginning in 1964 until his retirement in 1992. He served in the United States Navy and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Dick met Jean Kelly while working in Hearne in early 1960. They were married in June 1960 and were together for more than 45 years until Jean's death in 2006. Prior to moving to Yoakum in 1985, he lived in Carrizo Springs where he was the coach of the Little League Baseball Team sponsored by Union State Bank. He also enjoyed watching high school and college football.
Survivors include his sons, Louis Farmer, Daniel Farmer, Stanley Farmer (Pam) and Daryl Farmer (Tammy); three grandchildren, Jennifer Farmer, Claire Farmer, and Emma Farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean Farmer; two sisters and two brothers.
A visitation with funeral service were held Aug. 4 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with Mr. Ramon Perez officiating. The burial was at Norwood Cemetery in Hearne.
