Dorothy Marie Zaruba
Dorothy Marie Zaruba, 85, of Hallettsville, was called home on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1937, to Tom J. and Anna Cinadr Kanak, at their home in St. Mary’s.
Dorothy was a member of the KJZT, Chamber of Commerce, where she was a big part of the Kolache Fest for several years, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
On Oct. 11, 1959, Dorothy was united in marriage with Joe F. Zaruba Jr. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hallettsville. From this union, they were blessed with five children.
Dorothy is survived by three daughters; one son; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, two sisters; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their extended families.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; daughter, Gail Ann Zaruba; three brothers, Ronald, Rudolph and Daniel Kanak; sister, Justine Tobola Ziegler; brothers-in-law, Adolph Tobola, Lester Ziegler, Royce Schulte and John Kaiser; son-in-law, Kelly House; granddaughter, Dawn House Hartwell; in-laws, Annie Mae and Julius Technik, Robert and Josie Zaruba, Helen and James Appelt and Rita (Frank) Zaruba.
Visitation began at 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12 at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.
Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
