Ella Marie Berger

Ella Marie Berger, 85, of Shiner, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022.

She was born Jan. 7, 1937 in Hallettsville to Paul and Mathilda Zikhur Kremling.

She worked at Kaspar Wire Works. 

She graduated from Baldwin Business College. She was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and Altar Society. 

Ella enjoyed playing bingo with the Senior Citizens, dominos, baking kolaches and bread, gardening, canning vegetables and fruit and her cattle.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Berger and Carol Kneifel (Michael); sons, Denis Berger Jr. (Lori) and Allan Berger (Debi); seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Denis Berger Sr. (passed away March 18, 1986); brother, Henry Kremling.

Visitation began at 4 p.m. and Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept.  8 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum. 

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating. 

Burial followed in the  Shiner Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kevin Berger, Justin Moller, Bradley Berger, Derrick Berger, Craig Kneifel, Jeremy Kneifel and Daniel Torres.

Memorial contributions may be given to Sts. Cyril and  Methodius Catholic Church or a charity of donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank Msgr. John Peters and Rev. Bryan Heyer for visiting their mother in the nursing home. The family also wants to thank Hallettsville Nursing and  Rehab Center, Hospice of South Texas and the doctors for their care given to Mrs. Berger.
