Ellorine Emily Knape

Ellorine Emily Knape, 97, of Yoakum, went to meet her Lord, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. 

She was born Oct. 22, 1926 in Moulton to Gustav Gummelt and Emily Christine (Kaase) Gummelt. Most knew her as “Renie”. 

She graduated from Moulton High School and attended business college.

On Dec. 30, 1945 she married her beloved Harold Knape in Moulton. Harold was the Yoakum School Superintendent for many years and Renie was the worker behind the scenes, raising their children and helping out where needed in the community. 

Renie was a devoted member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Yoakum for many years, until her move to Hondo in 2019, where she attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. 

She worked as a secretary at Trott Clinic for 15 years, and enjoyed sewing, playing bridge, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was quoted for having said, that the greatest lesson in her life was to “Spend time with God each day”. May her legacy of kindness and faith be an inspiration to others.

Survivors are her daughter, Kathy Richter and husband, Robert of Hondo and son, John Knape and wife, Jan of San Antonio; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Knape; daughter, Charlotte Knape.

Visitation began at 10 a.m. and continued until 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 10. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home. Pastor Beverly Kelling officiated

 Burial followed  at theMoulton City Cemetery next to her husband.
