Elson Roy Schreiber Jr.

Elson Roy Schreiber, Jr, 75 of Shiner, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023.  
Elson was born in Shiner and attended St. Ludmila’s Academy and St. Paul High School. Elson always made Shiner his home with the exception of the years he spent away in the Army.  Following graduation in 1967, he began to work for Kaspar Wire Works and then in 1968 he joined the Army. His Army career saw him at many different stations throughout the country moving him up in ranks to Master Sergeant E6.  
Following the service, Elson returned to Shiner and again worked at the Kaspar Wire Works for the next 21 years. In 1972, Elson married Judy Ann Valenta. Elson and Judy had a daughter, Kelly Ann Goetz (married to Mark Goetz); and son, Kevin Wayne Schreiber (married to Kristy Schreiber).  Elson was blessed with four grandchildren, Ashley Holly and Zachary Goetz (of Weimar) and McKenna and Cole Schreiber (of Georgetown).   
After retiring from Kaspar Wire Works, Elson worked for Johnson Oil in Shiner for the next 23 years in various capacities. In 1999, Elson remarried Karen Sullivan who relocated to Shiner from Bedford, Ohio. Elson gained 5 step-children into the family. Elson and Karen joined First United Methodist Church and loved their church family.  Elson and Karen looked forward to several events that took place at the church during the year with their favorites being the Easter Egg hunt and Halloween festivities for the children.
Elson had many things he enjoyed in his life, including traveling the world with Karen and spending time with his sister Carol Hoerig and her family.   
Elson was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Schreiber; second wife, Karen Schreiber; son, Kevin Wayne Schreiber; his parents, Ethelyn and Elson Roy Schreiber, Sr.; and brother, David Schreiber.
A graveside service will be announced for Elson at a future date.
