Georgia M. Schreiber
Georgia Marie Schreiber, 92, went to meet Jesus on Monday, February 17, 2025.
She was born on January 9, 1933, in Shiner. She was a graduate of St. Ludmila’s Academy. She lived in Shiner until her marriage to Marvin Schreiber in 1953.
Georgia was dedicated to her faith and to her church. She instilled those values in her children by sending them to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School for their early education. Later, she and Marvin became active at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and made lifelong friends through Marvin’s membership in the Knights of Columbus. Georgia spent her child rearing years keeping her children involved in 4-H activities.
Having seven children in the span of nine years was a herculean effort that she pulled off admirably. After her children were grown, Georgia worked for a time in the archives at the Oblate Seminary, and she also made and decorated cakes of all kinds. You were a lucky person if you had a birthday cake or wedding cake made by Georgia.
Marvin and Georgia became fast friends with Grady and Faye Cowart of Grady’s BBQ and enjoyed their time spent with the Cowarts as friends and coworkers. Georgia was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her family and her friends.
Survivors include her seven children, Mary Lou Roemer (Macon), Carol Schindler (Alan), Kenny Schreiber, Patty Reyes (Ken), Karen Pesek, Tim Schreiber and Rose Stevens (Michael); brothers, Stanley Kouba and Joe Kouba; sister, Henrietta Lipiec; sisters-in-law, Mabel Picha and Sandi Schreiber; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Georgia was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews who call her “Aunt”.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Schreiber; her parents, Joe and Clara Kouba; infant brothers, Leon Kouba and Alvin Kouba; and sister, Lydia Hobbs.
