Gerda E. Janak

Gerda E. Janak, 86, of Shiner, passed away at the South Texas Comfort Center in Victoria on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, with her husband, Casper, at her bedside.

 Her life journey began on May 12, 1936, in Dedlow, Germany, born to parents, Johanna and Maximillian Reng.

Gerda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Casper Janak; two sisters; two brothers-in-law; sister-in-law; four nephews; four nieces, and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany.

Gerda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hans Georg Reng; niece, Sharon Gonzales, and nephew, Christopher Jerome Janak.

Visitation began at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Rosary was recited at 9:30 a.m.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Msgr. John Peters officiated.

Burial followed in  St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

 Pallbearers were Christopher Janak, David Janak, Rick Janak, Ken Stolte, Dennis Satsky and Jonathon Janak. 

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or a charity of donor’s choice.
