Hilmer R. Galetka

Hilmer R. Galetka, 95, of Hallettsville, passed away, Wednesday,  Dec. 21, 2022. 

He was born n Hallettsville on Sept. 25, 1927, to John and Theresa Mikush Galetka.

He attended Boethel School and Baldwin’s Business College.

Hilmer enlisted on Jan.  10, 1946 at Fort Sam Houston and serviced with Company A, 2nd Basic Training Battalion.

 He was honorably discharged on May 17, 1946, from Madigan Hospital Center, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Hilmer married Gaye Ann Fahrenthold, on Nov.  22, 1965, and they were married for 57 years.

Hilmer is survived by his wife, Gaye, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hilmer was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Julius, Emil, Edwin, Victor and John Jr. Galetka, and two sisters, Evelyn Sassin and Selma Grones.

Visitation began at 12 noon, Monday, Dec. 26 at the Czech Moravian Brethren Church in Vsetin.

Funeral services followed the visitation at 2 p.m., Monday, at the church. Rev. Dr. Mark Labaj officiated.

 Burial followed in the Czech Moravian Brethren Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronald Sevcik, Mark Sevcik, Rodney Leer, Neal Schmidt, David Sassin, Gregory Galetka, Jared Steffek and Ross Grones.
