James Alvin Pohl
James Alvin Pohl, 88, of Ezzell, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1934, to Henry J. and Ida May Bell Pohl, in the Sommer’s Thicket near Ezzell in southeast Lavaca County.
On Aug. 21, 1960 he married Frances Powell in Pecos.
He graduated from TAMU in 1956 with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering, served in the US Army Reserve for six years, and worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for 34 years (Pecos, Sioux Falls SD, Greenville, Denton and Rosenberg).
He was a longtime member of the Salem Cemetery Association Board and associate member of Republican Women of Yoakum Area.
James is survived by his wife, Frances; his two sons and two daughters; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Annie Ruth Pohl Wagner.
Visitation began at 4 p.m., Thursday, July 21 at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 22 at Kubena Funeral Home. Chester St. Clair officiated.
Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Salem Cemetery Association, Hospice of South Texas or a charity of donor’s choice.
