Jeanette ‘Jeanie’ Targac

Jeanette “Jeanie” Targac of Moulton passed away on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023. 

 She was born in Moulton on Nov. 21, 1939 to Reinhold Dierschke and Lorine Madala Dierschke.

Jeanie was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, raised chickens for many years and was a rancher and gardener.  She was known to family and friends as “Chick”, as her late husband, Gus, gave her that name. 

Gus and Jeanie also owned Gus’s Place, a bar and grocery store in Moulton for many years.  Many lifetime friends were made during their years of owning and running Gus’s Place and her love of flowers and her garden were plentiful, enough to feed her entire family.  

Jeanie is survived by two daughters,  Debbie Rother (Danny) and Deana Bohuslav (Kenny); eight grandchildren: Eric Rother (Lasae), Brandon Rother (Clarissa), Danielle Sevcik (Ronnie Jr.), Tawnya Shirocky (Adam), Keelan Bohuslav (Kelsey), Whitney Pohler (Wesley), Abby Allen (Matthew) and Shelby Bohuslav (Chris); 22 great grandchildren: Evan Rother, Hayden Rother, Presley Rother, Eli Rother, Grace Rother, Olivia Rother, Layne Sevcik, Trent Sevcik, Kenley Sevcik, Dakota Sevcik, Sadi Shirocky, Sara Shirocky, Kaleb Shirocky, Katie Shirocky, Knox Bohuslav, Krew Bohuslav, Chloe Pohler, Ty Pohler, Ben Pohler, Max Allen, Maizy Allen and Reece Novosad; one sister, Rita Bradley, and five brothers: Dennis Dierschke, Floyd Dierschke, Roy Dierschke, Harvey Dierschke and Melvin  Dierschke.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Targac;  parents, and brother, Larry.

Visitation for Jeanie began at 3 p.m. and continued until 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 17 at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton.

Rosary was recited at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 18 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton.

Funeral Mass was celebrated following at 10 a.m. Father Gabriel Maison officiated.

Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Moulton.

Those attending as pallbearers  were Keelan Bohuslav, Wesley Pohler, Matthew Allen, Eric Rother, Brandon Rother, Ronnie Sevcik Jr., Adam Shirocky, and Jeff Dierschke.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Wagner, Hospice of South Texas and a huge thank you to Personalized Care for all their care and love they gave Jeanie during this difficult time.
