John Davis

John Davis, 91, of Shiner, completed his work on earth on Monday, April 4, 2022.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at Thiele- Cooper Funeral Home, with Brother Mike Smith officiating.

Military Honors were presented after the service.

Burial will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Thiele Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum.

He was born on November 29, 1930 in El Reno, Oklahoma to John and Ruth (Shelton) Davis.

John was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Shiner VFW and American Legion. Grandpa as he was known to many, accomplished all his goals in life and was happy and peaceful to the end. He was married to his beloved Doris (Mayer) Davis and they were blessed with 57 years of marriage.

He worked as a tool and dye machinist until his retirement and spent many hours repairing old cars. Doris passed away in 2019 and Grandpa depended on his family of three generations to fill his time with sweet memories. He joined the afternoon group at Howard’s in Shiner, known as the “Piss n Moan” Group.

Survivors are his children, daughters, Cindy Martin (Lowell) of Yoakum, Linda Barta (Gary) of Moulton, Connie Bushey (Nick) of Tennessee and Sharon Devine (Paul) of Illinois; sons, Scott Davis (Donna) of Kansas, Kenny Davis (Norma) of Shiner and Bradley Davis of Shiner; 10 grandchildren, Mandy Ramirez (Val), Lowell Martin Jr. (Alicia), Ashley Vernon (Bubba), Aaron Martin (Tiffany), Jared Martin (Miranda), Erica Rodriguez (E.J.), Nathaniel Davis (Maya), Kennedy Davis, Anna Sage (Derek), Nathan Devine (Ashley); 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his sweet kitty, Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Davis; his parents; and brother, Lloyd Davis. Memorials may be given to Shiner Volunteer Fire Dept.
