Laddie J. Janik, 87, of Shiner, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023.
Visitation began at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 3 with rosary recited at 4 p.m. at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, December 4 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating.
Burial followed at Shiner Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum.
Pallbearers were Austin Remmers, Colton Janik, Wesley Janik, Scott Dobbs, Pat Steffek, David Janecek, Dean Janak and Mark Janik.
Honorary pallbearers were Oren James Remmers and Gloria Ruth Remmers.
He was born on April 7, 1936 in Shiner, to Anton and Mary Kral Janik. He worked for 50 years at Midway Farm Supply. He was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, K.J.T. and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cattle, riding in his cabbed-in tractor, making people laugh, eating Blue Bell ice cream and the Shiner Hobo Band.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Helen Janak Janik; daughter, Gail Remmers (Kirk) of Shiner; son, Greg Janik (Jennifer) of Yoakum; grandchildren, Austin Remmers (Jessica), Colton Janik (Madison) and Wesley Janik (Jadan); and great-grandchildren, Oren James Remmers and Gloria Ruth Remmers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Benita Janecek Bordovsky; and brother, Ernest Janik.
Memorial contributions may be given to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church Repair Fund or Hospice of South Texas.
