Lillie Annie Balusek
Lillie Annie Balusek, 92, of Moulton, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
She was born on Aug. 15, 1930, in Lavaca County, to Joe and Hermina Trcalek Belicek.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Czech Moravian Brethren Church of Vsetin, where she has been a member for her whole life. She attended school in Breslau and graduated as the Salutatorian of her class, then went onto Blinn College.
On June 16, 1956, Lillie married Joe Balusek at Czech Moravian Brethren Church in Vsetin.
She helped Joe farm and raise cattle in Hallettsville. Later they moved to Yoakum, where Joe was employed at the Highway Department. She was a devoted mother and housewife.
Later Joe and Lillie moved to Bay City and Texas City with Joe’s employment, and finally retired to their farm in Moulton.
Lillie enjoyed farm life and she also had a very green thumb, growing a variety of flowers, and was an avid gardener. Her family was fond of her canned vegetables that she put up during spring and summer. She was a great cook and baked some amazing desserts. Her kolaches were enjoyed by many.
Lillie loved going to bingos, playing bunco in a local bunco group, and playing marbles and dominoes with family members. She enjoyed visiting family and friends and was known for her beautiful smile. She adored her small dog, Margarita, who she spoiled a great deal. Margarita was a great companion for her because she kept her entertained.
Lillie was a member of several organizations during her life: Vsetin Christian Sisters, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Farm Bureau, FFA Buyers Club, 50-plus year member of SPJST, and volunteered at local nursing homes with bingos and church services.
Lillie is survived by her daughter, Susan Siptak and husband, Joe; son, Glenn Balusek and wife, Robyn; sister-in-law, Theresa Belicek; grandchildren, Adam Siptak (Amanda); Joshua Siptak (Melissa); Mark Siptak (Lauren); Sarah Brasher (Jeff); Lee Balusek, Madelyn Balusek, Brent Hill and Meagan Harden; 24 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation began at 5 p.m., Sunday, July 2 at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville, followed by a prayer service at 6 p.m.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 3 at Czech Moravian Brethren Church in Vsetin. Rev. Dr. Mark Labaj officiated. Burial followed in the Vsetin Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Adam Siptak, Joshua Siptak, Mark Siptak, Sarah Brasher, Lee Balusek and Madelyn Balusek.
