Phillip Lee Sralla
Phillip Lee Sralla, 81, of Shiner, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, May 26, 2025.
He was born August 28, 1943, the only child born to the late Lee and Gladys (Wagner) Sralla.
He met his beloved Joan Bujnoch at a dance and they were rarely apart since. They spent the next 59 years working hard and raising their two children, Roger and Candice. Since he had no siblings, he said he was “blessed” when he married Joan and became part of the Anton and Mary Bujnoch family and their nine children.
Phillip worked as a saddle maker in TexTan and later Circle Y. He was an avid Shiner Comanche fan and Astros supporter. In his retirement he was able to enjoy all the simple things that made him so happy, his land , his cattle, gardening and spending time with his family. He and Joan went through difficult times, but their faith carried them through. May he rest in peace.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joan (Bujnoch) Sralla; daughter, Candice Lu; two granddaughters, Lauryn Lu and Megan Lu; and numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Sralla and wife Bonnie (Matula) Sralla; father, Lee Sralla (died when Phillip was 13); mother, Gladys Sralla Spann; step-father, Eddie Spann; and brothers-in-law, Larry Dierschke and Bobby Roznovsky.
A rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, with Rev. Jacob Mendoza officiating.
Burial will follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
