Ralph David Jones

Ralph David Jones of Lake Jackson, was peacefully reunited with his beloved wife, Merle when he passed on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022 at the age of 85. 

Merle and Ralph, Nini and Papa, were high-school sweethearts, married nearly 62 years when Merle passed away in 2019.

 Ralph was the oldest of four boys, born to Willis Ralph and Viola Jones in Hallettsville, on Sept. 13, 1936. 

He was a dedicated employee of BASF for 30 years, where he became an esteemed mentor to many. Ralph’s sense of responsibility was matched only by his sense of humor. He was so proud of his four children (though he insisted all credit for raising them so well be given to Merle), and his stories will keep everyone who knew him laughing for generations to come.

Ralph will be joyfully remembered every day by his children, Joni (Tex), Sheryl; Terry (Terry), and John (Shannon); his grandchildren, Casey, Trace, Chelsea, Caden, and Chazley; his great-grandchildren, Audrey, Dylan, Saylor, Brindley, and Eve; his brothers, Wallace, Collin Clyde, and Willis, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Ralph’s family is honoring his wish to be laid to rest next to Merle in a private graveside ceremony in their hometown of Hallettsville.
