Rose Cyrene (Wick) Janak
Rose Cyrene (Wick) Janak, 85, of Hallettsville, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2022 at Steven’s Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hallettsville.
She was born Aug. 17, 1937 in Lavaca County to Ferdinand and Matilda (Weber) Wick.
On June 22, 1957 she married Victor Janak at St. John the Baptist Church in Koerth.
They moved to Houston in 1958 where they raised their two children. Rose worked as an administrative assistant for several companies until her retirement. Victor and Rose returned to Hallettsville to enjoy their retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her only grandson as he grew up, always ready to step in to take him anywhere when needed. She enjoyed her free time reading and working in her yard and tending to her small garden for fresh vegetables. As a devoted wife, she cared for Victor as his health declined.
She felt no one could take care of him as well as she could. They were married 62 years until his passing in 2019.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Donna (Janak) Dornak and husband, Larry of Hallettsville; grandson, Cody Dornak and wife, Jamie (Vanek) Dornak and soon to be great-grandson, Baby Dornak of Fulshear; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Janak; step-grandson, Patrick Kemp and wife, Natalie and their children, Neil and Zoey Kemp, all of Spring; a sister, Alma (Wick) Schulz of Cypress; a brother, Joseph Wick of Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; son, Terry Janak, and three brothers, Ferdinand, Henry and Raymond Wick and two sisters, Annie (Wick) Bolech and Terezie (Wick) Bender.
Rosary was recited at 10 a.m., Friday, August 26 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Augustine Asante officiating.
Committal followed at Yoakum Restland Mausoleum.
Pallbearers were nephews, William Hermes, Herbert Hermes Jr., Glenn Janak, Mark Wick, Gilbert Wick and Jerry Bender.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas or Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and thanks to Steven’s Nursing and Rehabilitation of Hallettsville and Hospice of South Texas for all their special care.
