RoseLee McKay
RoseLee Schmidt McKay, 97, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023.
She was born November 7, 1925, in Shiner, as the only child of Edmund and Flora Gerdes Schmidt. She was baptized March 14, 1926, at United Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Shiner. RoseLee was confirmed March 24, 1940, at U.D.M.L.C.
On September 9, 1945, she married Guy McKay in U.D.M.L.C. and shared 55 years together. Over the years she worked with Guy at their business, McKay Ironworks, Herder Truck Line, and ranching.
RoseLee enjoyed gardening and playing dominos. She loved fishing and hunting and was an expert seamstress. RoseLee was a former Sunday School teacher, WELCA Member, member of Ladies Aid, and Girl Scout Leader. She was also a 50 plus year member of the Hermann Sons and served as past Matron and member of The Order of The Eastern Star.
RoseLee was a member of the PTA, assisted in organizing the Shiner High School Reunions, a member of the Shiner Game and Fish League, Shiner Young Farmers, Hope Sewing Club, and the Red Hatters.
RoseLee is survived by her daughter, RosaLynn (Daniel) Nerada of Shiner; grandson, Jason Dale Nerada (Rayanne Chesser) of Shiner; granddaughter, Kelly Lee Marie Nerada of Pearland; great-grandchildren, Bryce Nerada, Jacob Nerada, Sydney Bonewald, and Grayson Bonewald.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy McKay; and her parents.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10 at United Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. in the church, with Pastor Chris Heinold officiating.
Interment rites will conclude services at the Shiner Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bryce Nerada, Jacob Nerada, Brandon Siegel, Eric Winkenwerder, Kyle Winkenwerder and Tim Kocian.
Honorary pallbearers are Sydney and Grayson Bonewald, Gary Boening, Dalton Winkenwerder and Billy Ray Winkenwerder.
