Rubie Allene Crandall

Rubie Allene Crandall, 89, of Hallettsville, passed away, Saturday, July 15, 2023; she was known as “Cookie” by all those who loved her.  

She was born in Hallettsville on Sept. 29, 1933, to Jack and Nora Pohl Guthrie in Hallettsville.

She was Valedictorian of her Hallettsville High School class of 1951.

Cookie met her husband, Bill, who was a veterinarian when he went to their place in Ezzell to treat a sick cow. They were married June 5, 1966, and had one son, Jack Warren, who passed away from cancer on Feb. 7, 2016.

Cookie was an active member in the Women's Republican Party and helped hold many elections.  In her younger years she enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

Cookie frequently spoke about fond memories of traveling while Jack Warren helped coach baseball.  She loved the wildflower fields in Fredericksburg and keeping up with her extended family.

Cookie was preceded in death by her son and husband.

Visitation began at 5 p.m., Monday, July 24 at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. 

Funeral services were held at 1o a.m., Tuesday, July 25 at Kubena Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Tanner officiated. 

  Pallbearers were Eric Torres, Michael Torres, Levi Gold, Keith Gold, Errin Arredondo and Todd Tullos. 

 Honorary pallbearers were Frankie Lee McElroy, Stephen Cornelius, Pat Henke, Russell Goebel, Tommy Brandenberger and Leslie Pohl.  

Burial followed in the Hallettsville City Cemetery.

Memorials (in lieu of flowers) may be made to a charity of donor’s chose.
