Sylvester Enrique Garza ‘Uncle Vester’

Sylvester Enrique Garza ‘Uncle Vester’, 70, of Hallettsville, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, after a long battle with heart and lung disease.  

He was born at home in Hallettsville on Dec. 31, 1952, to Henry and Elvira Garza.  

Sylvester was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, attending Spanish Mass and adoration whenever he could.  He had a strong faith in God, and we know he is with his Lord today.

Sylvester is survived by one sister; one brother; three nieces; five nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elvira Garza; brothers, Robert Garza and Ruben Garza, and sister, Estella Garza.

Visitation began at 5 p.m., Monday, July 31 at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. 

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. 

Burial followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
