Tereso Valencia

Tereso Valencia, 85, of Shiner, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023.
He was born November 19, 1937 in Cuitzeo, Michoacan, Mexico to Paciano and Maria Luisa Guerrero Valencia. Tereso married Maria Cruz on May 11, 1962. He was a member of the Asamblea Apostolica de la Fe en Cristo Jesus Church.
Tereso came to Texas to work as a ranch hand in the early 1970s. He had worked in the fields of south Texas and faithfully returned home to his family in Mexico until 2001 when he moved his family to Dallas. It was there in Dallas that he worked in landscaping and still occasionally making trips back to Mexico to care for his property that he still owns to this day. In the years around 2012, Tereso and his wife moved to Shiner.
Tereso was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved music and good food. He was a prayerful man, faithfully praying every day. He led his family in his Christian faith and enjoyed reading his bible devotedly. In his later years if Tereso was not studying the word of God or praying he might be found working in his garden or enjoying long walks enjoying nature. He cherished his wife and family and desperately wanted his family to understand that though work is necessary, faith and family should always remain their priority.
Tereso is survived by his adoring wife of 61 years, Maria Cruz de Valencia; daughters and sons-in-law, Raquel Valencia Diaz, Josefina Valencia (Antonio Mendoza), Juana Valencia, Maria Valencia, and Juana Adrina Valencia (Gaddy Farias); son and daughter-in-law, Andres Valencia Diaz (Maria); sisters, Rafaila Valencia, Augustina Valencia; and brother, Jesus Valencia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Susanna Mendoza.
