Brahmas leap over Tigers for 2nd place
A big 4-1 road win over Tidehaven Tuesday catapulted the Hallettsville Brahmas past the Tigers for second place in 28-AAA and avenged an 11-1, run-rule loss March 8.
The Brahmas (11-7, 7-2) scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the third while the torrid Preston Amsden had another good night both on the hill and at the plate.
Amsden (3-1) pitched a complete game twohitter and struck out seven while walking five. He also drove in a run in the first inning.
The Brahmas (11-7, 7-2) made the most of five hits with Brandt Trlicek going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs.
Trlicek led off the top of the first inning with a base hit and Trace Patek walked. Amsden singled in the first run and Jorian Wilson’s fielder’s choice scored the other.
Trlicek doubled to start the third inning and Patek drew a base on balls. Trlicek advanced to third on an infield out and Amsden grounded out to score Trlicek. Wilson doubled to get in the final run of the inning.

The Brahmas followed the two-hit pitching of Trace Patek and a 13-hit attack in a 16-0 win over Altair Rice Consolidated here Friday night.
Patek fanned six and walked two in the game shortened by the mercy rule.
Preston Amsden and Chase Janak led the hit parade, both going 3-for-4 Amsden hit a solo home run and had three RBI and Janak doubled and knocked in two runs.
Amsden is 7-for-11 with three home runs and seven RBI in the last three games.
Hallettsville established its superiority early with a nine-run first inning.
Brandt Trlicek doubled to start the inning and scored on Brock Bludau’s base hit. Patek was safe on an error and Amsden doubled in a run. Jorian Wilson collected two runs batted in with a single. A double by Janak got another run across and a Jaden Gonzales base hit scored Janak. Trlicek ripped a run-scoring triple and Bludau singled him in. The final run scored when Amsden was safe on an error.

Amsden led off the third with a home run before the final four runs scored in the fourth, two on RBI singles by Amsden and Ridge Walker.
