Bulldogs give good effort to try to win against Rockets
San Antonio John F. Kennedy scored two goals in the final 2:53 of the first half to get past the Bulldogs 3-1 Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.
“We got better defensively. Still have to work on connecting our passes,” Bulldogs head coach Dewayne Arkadie said. “We give up (goals) on a corner kick and a free-kick rebound. You take those two away and we got 1-1. We got better on offense but still have a lot of improving to do. Once we get past some of our injuries, we will be alright.”
He mentioned he had a couple of players unavailable due to injury but expects one of them back soon.
For the first 15 minutes, the Rockets offense peppered the Yoakum goal with shots, including the first shot on goal less than two minutes into the game.

JFK continued to seek out a second goal but could not find one despite more shots and chances.
The ‘Dogs first main offensive opportunity turned into pay dirt as a long ball found its way to Markangel Sanchez who took it down the middle and finished his shot to knot the game at 1-1 around the 7:10 mark.
The Rockets had some close shots at 4:38 and 3:24 that were saved before they were able to break the deadlock at around 2:53 when Fernando Landaverde scored after getting the ball on a corner kick.
The ‘Dogs were unable to get many shots off for the rest of the half but did earn a corner kick around 5:23 left in the game.
