Bulldogs place third at meet
The Yoakum High School (YHS) Powerlifting Team competed in the Texas Strength Systems (TSS) Meet on Feb. 2 in San Antonio, placing third with 31 points by getting two first-place medals and two runner-up medals.
Jared Ramirez won the 220-pound class with 1,095 total, 465 squat, 230 bench press, and 400 deadlift.
Joagin varela placed third with 975 total, 385 squat, 225 bench press, and 365 deadlift.
Jerry Llanas was fourth with a total of 800, 295 squat, 205 bench press, and 300 deadlift.
River Bergman placed first in the 275 class with a total of 1,375, 600 squat, 275 bench press, and 500 deadlift.
Brandon Godwin came in second in the 123 class with a 545 total, 180 squat, 115 bench press, and 250 deadlift.
Gabriel Gomez placed second in the 181 class with 1,065 total, 380 squat, 245 bench press, and 440 deadlift.
Jayden Gonzales won fourth in the 198 class with a 365 squat, 235 bench press, 340 deadlift, and 940 total. Joel Gomez was also fourth with 755 total, 245 squat, 185 bench press, 325 deadlift, and 755 total.
Jack Meyer scratched in the 198 class.
On Feb. 21, another TSS Meet will be held at 6 p.m. in San Antonio.
