Cross Country opens with home meet

Both Yoakum High School varsity teams placed third at Yoakum Cross Country Invitational Saturday.

VARSITY LADY BULLDOGS (1.5 MILES)

Yoakum scored 97 points and was led by Gracei Martinez who placed second overall in the race with a time of 9 minutes, 35.35 seconds. Anaiah Theile came in No. 23 in 11:01.41, followed by Josephine Pilat in 11:01.84. Karli Macias was No. 27 in 11:05.72, KC Lawwill was No. 42 in 11:39.87 and Madeline Massey was timed at 11:43.82 for No. 45.

VARSITY BULLDOGS (2.23 MILES)

The Bulldogs recorded 79 points.

AIden Alvarez was second with 12:18.04; Adrian Blakeney was clocked at 13:41.90 for No. 15; Aiden Jimenez crossed the finish line in 13:53.53 for No 19; Julian Espinoza got No. 22 with a a time of 14:05.14; Trevor Moreno was No. 26 in 14:19.62; Ian Pilat finished in 14:32.53 to claim No. 31; Dominic Novak was No. 34 with a time of 14:51.54.

JV GIRLS (1.5 MILES)

Kaitlyn Lopez was No. 19 in 12:35.05 and Shaziah Ruiz was No. 30 in 14:00.34.

JV BOYS (1.5 MILES)

The junior-varsity boys had two runners place in the top 10.

Lukas Gonzales finished in 14:47.99 for second, Benito Olmedo was eighth in 15:56.49, Moises Morales was clocked at 16:52.50 for No. 11 and Nathan Vo placed No. 19 with 18:43.47
