Indian losing streak at four

The Sacred Heart Indians have picked a bad time of the season to play bad basketball.

The Indians suffered their fourth loss in a row in dropping a 53-33 decision to San Antonio Atonement Academy here Friday.

The Crusaders led 12-7 at the end of the first quarter, 21-13 at the half and 27-22 at the end of three before the roof caved in. The Crusaders outscored the Indians 23-11 in the final eight minutes.

Andrew Steffek scored almost half the points for the Indians with 19.

SH will play Bishop Reicher in Waco Saturday at 6 p.m. in the bi-district round.

The St. Paul Cardinals shot 58.8% from the floor in the 49-28 victory over the Indians here Tuesday, Feb. 4.

SP led 9-4 at the first break and 16-10 at the half.

The third quarter was pivotal when the Cardinals began the stanza with a 6-0 run with Jack Ehrig canning two threes and Ezekial Rodriguez scoring 5 points for a 33-17 advantage going into the final canto and the Indians never recovered.
