Indians in Another Rout
The Sacred Heart Indians’ 45-17 victory over New Braunfels Christian Academy went as planned without glitches in a TAPPS District 5 Division IV game here Friday night.
The Indians totaled 391 yards of offense and continued the trend of not turning the ball over.
The Indians rushed for 293 yards with halfbacks Brady Haas and Cade Steffek having career nights.
Haas ran for 210 yards on 12 carries and scored on runs of 23, 42 and 67 yards. He went over the thousand yard rushing mark in the game. Steffek gained 89 yards on 7 carries including a 46-yard scoring run.
The Indians threw sparingly. Hudson Kutac filled in for injured quarterback Andrew Steffek and completed 3 of 5 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns, both to wide out Nic Angerstein that covered 34 and 33 yards.

“Overall, I was satisfied with our performance,” head coach Alex Seydler said. “We got off to a bit of a slow start in the first quarter, but our kids did an excellent job of raising their level of play in the second and third periods to build up a nice lead, Defensively, we generated some takeaways and the offense was able to create some big plays that resulted in touchdowns.”
The Indians scored on six of their seven possessions in the game.
A holding penalty stalled the opening drive and an Angerstein field goal of 36 yards put the Indians on the scoreboard. This came following a 25-yard reception by Ty Noska.
A 26-yard field goal by Sammy Henderson with 9:52 to play in the second period tied the score at 3-all.
But that was the beginning of the end for the Wildcats with the Indians tallying 41 unanswered points before the Wildcats scored again.
The Indians ate up big chunks of yardage on a 76 yard drive that took just three plays. Brady Haas ran for 31 yards before Steffek scored on a 46-yard jaunt and the point-after by Angerstein made the score 10-7.

The Indians kept pouring it on and scored two touchdowns to end the half with a 31-3 advantage.
Brady Haas capped a 54-yard, 4-play drive by going 42 yards for the first score.
In the second period, the Indians scored once again in a hurry in a drive covering 55 yards that took three plays with the payoff coming on a 34-yard Kutacto-Angerstein pass.
The clock ran continuously in the second half and the Indians’ final touchdown came on a 33- yard pass from Kutac to Angerstein.
The Wildcats scored midway through the third period on a 73-yard pass from quarterback Parker Joseph to Owen Wells and in the fourth on a 46-yard sprint by Dillan Wickham.
Christian Academy ended up with 230 yards running and passing. Joseph chunked the ball 27 times and completed only 8 for 133 yards with 3 picks.
SH will be trying to win its first district title since 2018 when they visit Temple Central Texas Christian Nov. 3.
