Indians down St. Paul in District opener

SHINER – Laynee Sevcik struck out 13 as the Sacred Heart Indians defeated St. Paul 4-1 in the TAPPS District 5 Division IV opener for both teams Tuesday, March 11 at the Star Plex.

Sevcik went 6 . 2 innings and gave up one run, three hits and walked five. Charlie Shank worked the inning and surrendered on walks while striking out one.

SH scored two runs in the first inning. Ty Noska and Josh Terry drew one-out back-toback walks with Noska scoring on a base hit by Layne Sevcik. Terry scored on a passed ball.

The Indians didn’t score again until the seventh inning.

Trent Sevcik led off with a single and moved up a base on Noska’s sacrifice bunt. Following a strikeout, Layne Sevcik kept the inning alive with a RBI double and scored when Bowen Hawkins doubled.
