Indians Easily Handle Eagles, 42-12

The Sacred Heart Indians made head coach Alex Seydler’s debut a rousing success with a 42-12 rout of Tomball Rosehill Christian here Friday night.

The Indians built up a 42-0 lead before Rosehill scored its first touchdown early in the fourth period.

The Indians had 375 yards total offense - 252 rushing and 123 passing.

The Indians’ ballhawking defense forced four turnovers. Nic Angerstein had two interceptions with one going for a touchdown and Clayton Haas one pick.

Andrew Steffek started his first-ever game at quarterback and completed 7 of 11 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Angerstein was on the receiving end of a touchdown pass and grabbed 3 passes for 79 yards and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Brady Haas had quite a night. The senior halfback scored four of the Indians’ six touchdowns and led SH ground forces with 145 yards on 16 carries. Haas had scoring runs of 23, 7, 9, and caught a 9-yard touchdown pass.

The Eagles totaled only 252 yards on the night.

SH scored on its first six possessions.

The Indians wasted no time on getting after a 52-yard drive that took just 3 plays on the first possession of the game. Andrew Steffek threw to Hudson Kutac for a 19-yard gain and Brady Haas scored on a 23-yard run.

Scared Heart stopped an Eagle drive at its 19 and a field goal attempt was no good.

The Indians then proceeded to drive 80 yards in 7 plays which ended with a nice throw and catch from Steffek to Angerstein for 35 yards.

Angerstein’s pick-six put another score on the board with 6:32 remaining in the second quarter.

Also in the second canto, Brady Haas went in from 7 yards out to cap a 47- yard, 7-play drive with 1:06 remaining in the first half.
