Indians lose in extra innings

The Sacred Heart Indians dropped their season opener to Smithville in extra innings, 3-1 here Monday.

The Tigers pushed across two runs in the top of the 10th on three walks and an RBI single by Thomas Davis.

There was a lot of traffic on the bases. The Indians collected 10 hits and stranded 10 baserunners.

Four Indian pitchers limited the Tigers to 5 hits, but the Tigers drew 9 walks.

SH scored its only run in the fifth inning on a double by Emerson Harvey to drive in Trent Sevcik who singled.

Harvey had 3 hits and Bowen Hawkins 2.
