Lady Brahmas rule Weimar
WEIMAR – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas won (9-2) the Weimar Tournament for the second year in a row with six victories.
LB 4, Weimar 0
Grace Halata pitched a two-hitter with two strikeouts in the 4-0 victory Saturday night. She also doubled and drove in a run.
Hanna Zachary had two hits and scored two runs and Grace Halata had two RBI with a double. Ashlyn Pustka doubled and had a tworun single. Sophie Etzler collected a hit and drove in one run.
LB 5, Danbury 2
A five-run fifth inning was the difference in the 8-2 victory Friday.
The LB had eight hits with Grace Halata and Ashlyn Pustka collecting doubles.
Hanna Zachary was 2 for 2, Addison Matula drove in two runs with a single, Grace Halata singled and drove in two runs, Ashlyn Pustka drove in two runs with a base hit and Sophia Etzler singled and chased home another.
LB 12, Bellville 7
The LB scored nine runs in the second inning in the victory over Bellville Friday.
Hallettsville had 11 hits.
Addison Matula drove in four runs with a double and home run. Caitlynn Halata hit a triple and winning pitcher Grace Halata knocked in a run with a single, Alaina Halata drove in two runs with a single and Ashlyn Pustka, Taylor Yeatts and Elizabeth Felcman had base hits.
LB 8, East Bernard 2
Elizabeth Felcman pitched five solid innings in the victory Friday.
Felcman gave up two earned runs, walked two and struck out one.
Hanna Zachary and Grace Halata had two hits apiece. Grace Halata drove in two runs with a double and Sophia Etzler singled in two runs.
LB 4, Sealy Tigers 3
Addison Matula’s grand slam home run in the first inning accounted for all of the Lady Brahmas’ runs in the 4-3 victory over Sealy Thursday evening in a five-inning game.
Caitlynn Halata singled with one out before Grace Halata and Macey Pustka drew back-to-back walks to fill the bases. Matula leaned into a pitcher and sent it over the right centerfield fence.
The only other LB hit was a single by Macey Pustka.
LB 15, Navarro 4
The LB scored early and often in the 15-4 rout of Geronimo Navarro Thursday afternoon.
Hallettsville amassed 10 hits with freshman Caitlynn Halata hitting her first-ever home run and also doubled.
Hallettsville scored four runs in the first inning. Macey Pustka singled in a run, Addison Matula drew a bases loaded walk followed by a three-run single by Taylor Yeatts.
Hallettsville had a big second inning with 11 runs on five hits and six walks.
