Lady Brahmas win home opener

Grace Halata pitched around 7 walks and hit a two-run homer that decided the issue in the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas’ 4-3 victory over Ganado in their home opener here Monday afternoon.

Hallettsville trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning. Caitlynn Halata led off with a single prior Grace Halata powering a 1-1 pitch over the left field fence.

The LB had only 5 hits and ironically, 4 went for extra bases.

Just like the Lady Brahmas, Grace Halata is 4-1. The junior southpaw ceded 6 hits, three earned runs and gave up 6 hits.

Ganado’s Kalyn Benavidez started the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning.

Hallettsville had back-toback-to-back doubles by Caitlynn Halata, Grace Halata and Addison Matula to score 2 runs and a 2-1 lead.

Ganado answered with two runs in the fourth inning for a 3-2 lead.

The Maidens had runners on first and third when the game ended.

Saylor Bures took the loss and also pitched a complete game. Bures struck out 3 and walked 2.

Ganado stranded 7 baserunners and Hallettsville 4.
