Lady Bulldogs fall to Victoria St. Joseph, get two wins in Cuero Tournament
The Yoakum High School Lady Bulldogs played St. Joseph-Victoria Aug. 19 and competed at the Cuero Tournament Aug. 14-16.
ST. JOSEPH
The varsity fell to the Lady Flyers 30-28, 25- 15, and 25-17. For Yoakum, Lilly Fojt had 20 assists, three kills, one ace; Deveah Rios had six kills, six digs; Madie Svec provided three kills and three blocks; McKenna New added seven kills, one dig; MaKayla Olmedo finished with nine digs; Taylor Velek had 25 digs, one ace; Hanna Garvin had two aces, two digs; Aaliyah Rosales had five kills and three aces.
The Junior Varsity B Team fell 25-6 and 25- 23; the Junior Varsity A Team lost in two, 25-15 and 25-13.
CUERO TOURNAMENT
Yoakum posted a a 2-6 record in the Cuero Tournament, finishing as SIlver Bracket semifinalists.
On Aug. 14, Yoakum lost to Port Lavaca Calhoun (25-20, 25-17), Santa Gertrudis Academy (25-14, 25-17) and San Antonio Incarnate Word (25-20, 25-27, 25-23).
In Aug. 15 matches, Yoakum fell to Stephenville (26-24, 24-26, 25-19), beat Carrollton NewmanSmith 25-17, 25-20 and lost to Beeville Jones, 25-9 and 25-21.
On Saturday, Yoakum played in the Silver Bracket, winning a rematch against Incarnate Word 25-18, 12-25 and 25-22. The Lady Bulldogs were swept by Shiner 25- 23 and 25-19.
