Lady Bulldogs play against Industrial in Yoakum, Edna on the road last week in district play
The Yoakum High School (YHS) Lady Bulldogs battled through losses to Industrial (home) Jan. 28 and at Edna Jan. 31 in district play.
INDUSTRIAL 58, YOAKUM 29
The Lady Cobras used a 19-2 run in the second quarter to down the Lady Bulldogs 38-59 Jan. 28 in Yoakum.
Industrial led 8-6 after one quarter and was ahead 27-8 after the big second quarter.
The Lady Cobras scored 21 of 33 points and then slightly outscored Yoakum 10-8 in the final period.
Amori Harper was the leading scorer for Yoakum with nine points; Industrial was topped by Deziree Evans who knocked down 17 points.

The YHS Junior Varsity lost to Industrial 37-12.
Yoakum led 6-4 after the first quarter and Industrial went on a 13-2 run in the second quarter for a 17-8 halftime lead. The Lady Cobras scored eight of 12 points in the third quarter and scored 12 while holding Yoakum to zero points.

EDNA 74, YOAKUM 39
Deveah Rios got eight points, Olivia Fojt put in seven points and Lilly Fojt scored six points in the Lady Bulldogs 74-39 loss to Edna on Friday. Shanti Guerra led Edna with 29 points, Keira Santellna had 16 points and Isbella Plotini had 13 points.
The Cowgirls started off with a big advantage with 23 of 31 points scored in the first quarter. Edna doubled Yoakum 20-10 in the second box with Olivia Fojt making a triple.
In the third quarter, Edna went on an 11-7 run with Rios scoring all by one Yoakum point.
The Cowgirls outscored the Lady Bulldogs 20-14 in the fourth quarter with Samantha Damek scoring five points.

After a 4-4 tie in the first quarter in the junior varsity game, the Cowgirls grabbed a 24-15 win. Edna went on a 7-0 second-quarter run and 3-0 in the third frame. Yoakum slightly outscored the hosts 11-10 in the fourth box.
KC Lawwill had six points to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
