Lavaca County Youth compete in Houston Livestock Show

Twelve Lavaca County  youth competed in the  Houston Livestock Show  & Rodeo Dairy Judging  contest on Saturday,  March 19.

This contest was both  the District 11 Contest  as well as the HLSR  contest. One hundred  eighty-seven senior level  individuals and 58 teams  competed at this year’s  contest.

The Senior team of  Brenden Henke, Zachary  Henke , Nathan  Henke, and Macey Pustka  received 3rd Place  team honors. Brenden  received 13th high individual  and Zachary  received 20th high individual.

In the Junior division,  the Lavaca County 4-H  team of Ashlyn Pustka,  Lindsay Orsak, Dylan Orsak,  and Wyatt Kram received  1st Place honors.

Ashlyn received 1st  high individual, Lindsay  received 8th, and Dylan  received 18th.

In addition to receiving  top individual  honors, Ashlyn was one  of the top scorers in  the overall HLSR contest  and received a calf  scramble certificate to  purchase a steer or heifer  to raise and bring  back to show next year  at HLSR.  In the District contest,  Brenden, Zachary  and Macey received 1st  place Senior Team medals.

Brenden received 2nd  high individual, Zachary  received 3rd high  individual, Summer Leopold  received 6th high  individual, and Macey  received 7th high individual.

The 4-H team of Ashlyn,  Nathan, and Wyatt  received 1st place Intermediate  Team medals.  Ashlyn received 1st high  individual, Nathan received  2nd high individual,  and Wyatt received  8th high individual.

Tanner Pustka received  2nd place high  individual in the Junior  District contest.

These kids have accomplished  a lot this  year from a very long  break of having no contests.  They have exceeded  our expectations…  Congratulations!
