LB 3rd in Schulenburg

    SCHULENBURG – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas defeated East Bernard, 66-50, to win third place in the Schulenburg Tournament Saturday.

    The Lady Brahmas (13- 2) led 34-24 at the half and stretched the margin to 49-33 after three quarters.

    All-tournament selection Macy Herring bucketed 22 points, Alaina Halata had a career-high 19 points as Kasey Harper chipped in with 14 markers.

    Scoring: Layten Kolacny 5, Kasey Harper 14, Macy Herring 20, Adalyn Pohl 7, Alaina Halata 19, Destiny Garza 2.

    LB 61, Boling 31

    The Lady Brahmas had little trouble with Boling Friday in a 61-31 win Friday in the third place semifinals. The LB leapt out to a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter behind 8 points by Kasey Harper. The lead was lengthened to 27-12 at the half.

    Adalyn Pohl led a 20-6 third period with 8 points.

    Pohl had a game-high 15 points followed by 12 each from Harper and Macy Herring.

    Cornerstone 61, LB 48

    San Antonio Cornerstone Christian School decisioned the Lady Brahmas, 61-48.

    Sophomore guard Yasheem Schmidt, a Rice University pledge, scored 24 points.

    Cornerstone held a 19- 12 lead at the end of the first quarter and 30-22 at the half.

    The Warriors outscored the LB 31-26 in the second half.

    Macy Herring also scored 24 points for the LB in a losing cause.

    LB 70, Schulenburg 22

    The Lady Brahmas obliterated Schulenburg in the second game of the tournament Thursday with all 11 players scoring.

    The LB led 24-4 at the first period and 48-12 at the half.
